Mehmet Sami has more than 28 years of experience in corporate finance, capital markets and private equity advisory fields – as listed;

Mr. Sami initiated and founded Ata Invest’s Investment Banking, Research and Institutional Equity Trading & Sales divisions that became one of the largest independent Investment banking firms in Turkey. After nearly 19 years at Ata Invest, he moved to Deloitte Corporate Finance to become the Lead M&A and Debt Advisory Partner in 2012 and later a member of the Deloitte Global M&A ExCo.

Key Service Accomplishments

M&A Advisory
Since 1988, assisted establishing international client base and presence, while undertaking various Turkish privatization, cross-border M&A and large international joint ventures in Turkey

Private Equity Advisory
Since 1996, initiated and executed number of Private Equity deals (approx. 35{807855116abc0ba7c5c4979ccba5fd6dd2fb49154fc9c993ef2a0ef6f86f6d93} of all between 1996-1999). In 2000, raised the first and largest PE Fund in Turkey, acted as Strategic Advisor to the Fund and served on its Investment Committee for 7 years. Besides Buy Side services, has advised on 12 PE deals in Turkey.

Capital Markets – ECM

1989-1991      : Managed more than 10 IPOs – 25{807855116abc0ba7c5c4979ccba5fd6dd2fb49154fc9c993ef2a0ef6f86f6d93} of all IPOs during 1990 (Finansbank)

1993                : Managed Sabanci Holding Listed Firms Perception study and IPO Strategy

1994-2012      : Managed  nearly 70 IPOs &  SPOs as Lead/Co Manager/Syndicate Member

Capital Markets – DCM

Local bond markets, alive until 1992 took nearly 20 years to come back. Yet fortunate to issue corporate bonds before and funding for corporates after this long spell of crowding out period,

Capital Markets – Equity Sales & Trading

Built a research-backed equity sales and trading platform focusing on US, European and GCC Institutional Investors. The growth of the business necessitated establishing an office in USA to serve US institutional investors via  a strategic alliance that lasted 16 years. Between 1996-2012, he actively participated in sales visits and organized roadshows and conferences in New York, London and Dubai.

Corporate Governance

He restructured and set corporate governance standards in several Turkish corporations while serving as an Independent Director. Mr Sami also sits on the boards of numerous professional, social and NGO affiliations.
